Dear companies looking for Scrum Masters, I suggest a small change to your job listings. In the “responsibilities” section, simply point to this: This can become a “secret handshake”, letting candidates know that you know how scrum works and that that is exactly what you want. It also saves you time so you can focus on preparing your internal systems of work for when you’ve hired the person. And for Agile Coach positions, maybe simply point to the book that “defined” the role: “Coaching Agile Teams” by Lyssa Adkins – she/her Again, this shows candidates that you have done your homework on understanding what you’re getting into. If you’re reading this and it rubs you the wrong way, let’s play “Perfection Game” from The Core Protocols on it. I’ll ask you to look it up for yourself.
